Use this page for simple PDFs rejected by portals because the file is larger than 2 MB.

Can MakeFileFit compress any PDF under 2 MB?

No. It resaves the PDF using object streams and clears common document information fields. It does not downsample scanned images, remove pages or perform OCR. Some PDFs remain too large or become larger; a warning reports a missed size target.

Are PDF files uploaded?

What if a 3 MB scan stays above 2 MB?

For example, a 3 MB scanned document that remains 2.8 MB is still not compliant. Re-export the original with lower image resolution or grayscale when appropriate, check that text remains legible, and try again. Those figures illustrate a failed target, not a measured compression guarantee.

What does the 2 MB limit mean here?

Here 2 MB means 2,097,152 bytes. If the portal allows only 2,000,000 bytes, enter 1.9 MB for a margin. File size alone does not guarantee that the portal accepts the document.

Does cleaning remove confidential information or preserve signatures?

No. Clearing document information is not redaction: text, images, attachments or other embedded metadata may remain. Resaving can invalidate digital signatures. Keep the original and verify the output; do not use this tool to certify anonymization or signature preservation.
